課程概述

Freshman English II is a continuation of the comprehensive training in students' speaking skills as well as writing skills at the college level. With the confidence that students have developed during the first-semester training in using the English language, students will continue to polish their communication skills to effectively deliver their messages in a natural and professional way and to enhance their improvisation skills to reach and engage their audience, readers, and listeners.

課程目標
Students will have opportunities to work individually to foster learner autonomy and also in groups to develop team spirit. By the end of this course, students will have developed the skills to express their ideas and opinions logically and structurally in fluent and accurate English on a wide range of topics. Students will also have developed proper writing habits and can write persuasively and coherently. Mastering these skills, along with English skills, ensures students a smooth transition to taking EMI courses.
課程要求
100% of English is used for all instructor's lectures and in-class activities. Students are expected to take an active role in all class activities to maximize their learning opportunities. A student-centered approach will be adopted to allow students to make full use of class time to achieve their English-learning goals and the course learning objectives.

Attendance is taken seriously. Students who need to be absent or late for class should notify the instructor with a legitimate excuse via email written in English at least 2 days in advance. Students missing 2 or more classes will receive a failing grade for the course.

Respect deadlines. Late homework will NOT be accepted. No make-up assignments or activities are allowed.

Cell phones and other electronic devices are not allowed to be used in class unless given permission by the instructor to do so. Failure to abide by this class rule will result in automatic failure for the course.
