倫理學是哲學的一個次領域。它系統性探討道德議題，研究「什麼是對的行為？」「如何才能過美好人生？」本課程是倫理學的入門課程，首先將討論道德哲學裡的幾個理論性議題，包括道德是相對於不同文化和社會（倫理相對主義），還是放諸四海而皆準（道德客觀主義）？價值和道德之間的關係為何？社會契約論如何說明道德動機？其次，本課程將介紹四種規範倫理學理論，包括利己主義、效益主義、康德的義務論和德行倫理學。最後，我們將探討性別跟倫理學的關連、宗教跟倫理學的關連、事實與價值問題，以及道德相對主義和懷疑論對倫理學構成的挑戰。
Ethics is a branch of philosophy. It systematically inquires issues of morality and explores ‘what is the right thing to do’ and ‘how could we live a good life’. This course provides an introduction of ethics. We will first discuss some theoretical issues in moral philosophy, including ethical relativism, moral objectivism, moral value, social contract theory and the motive to be moral. Furthermore, we will introduce four normative theories, including egoism, utilitarianism, Kant’s deontological theory, and virtue theory. In the final part, we will discuss several important debates surrounding gender and ethics, religion and ethics, the fact/value problem, and the challenge of moral realism and skepticism.
