亞里斯多德稱形上學為第一哲學，是理論學科中最為尊貴的一門。亞里斯多德更在《尼克馬哥倫理學》中提及，幸福生活就是對此最為尊貴的理論知識的默觀。本課程旨在深入研讀與探究亞里斯多德《形上學》的部分內容，以了解亞里斯多德主要討論的「存在作為存在」、「第一實體」究竟為何，嘗試掌握其所述之「形上學」的整體面貌。
Aristotle calls metaphysics as the first philosophy, which is also the noblest theoretical science. It is also mentioned in the Nicomachean Ethics that the happiness (eudaimonia) of life is found in contemplating this noblest theoretical knowledge. This special study aims to inquire thoroughly several books of Aristotle’s Metaphysics, focusing on the main topics, such as “being qua being” and “first substance”, thus to grasp the whole outlook of “metaphysics” discussed by Aristotle.
