Course Description

It will be introduced the history of Buddhist arts and cultures spread in wide South (the original and Theravada Buddhism), Central (Mahayana Buddhism) and Southeast Asia (Mahayana and Theravada Buddhism) including Tibet (Vajrayana Buddhism) by showing of architectures, sculptures and paintings. 

Course Objective
Buddhism was born in India and spread in wide area. By this historical fact, it is cleat Buddhism is not a religion of certain country. Unfortunately this basic knowledge of Buddhism is not familiar in Taiwan. Therefore the target of this course is basic understanding of the Buddhist arts and culture as a global religion. 
Course Requirement
The course will be lectured in English. Students who will attend in this course are required basic geographical knowledge of these Asian areas by English, such as name of countries, dynasties and monuments of World Cultural Heritage.
