課程概述

The purpose of this course is to introduce doctoral students to the field of qualitative research and prepare them in theoretic basis, skills, techniques, and knowledge. 

課程目標
The objectives of this course are:
1. To develop scholarly curiosity about qualitative inquiry

2. To understand the defining features of the traditions in qualitative research

3. To compare and contrast theoretical orientations of qualitative inquiry

4. To understand the conduct of qualitative research and data generation

5. To expand knowledge basis of selected topics using qualitative inquiry

6. To create a critical and supportive learning atmosphere 
課程要求
1. Punctuality, attendance, and active participation are expected.

2. Reading and discussion: Students are required to read all required readings before class. Raise at least one question related to the readings to the discussant prior to the class and make one copy of the question list to the faculty for the class discussion.

3. Critical review: Write 1 critical review for the one selected qualitative research article. Enhancing the quality and credibility of qualitative analysis. Each review (2-3 pages in 1.5 space) is due on 19th April. Each review begins with a brief summary of the study and follows with your critical comments.

4. Presentation of proposal: Conduct a proposal of a topic that interests you with the emphasis on the qualitative studies. Prepare presentation and discussion of your insight how the method enrich the knowledge base of the selected topic. Share your qualitative study design and procedure based on the guiding textbook in each class, if appropriate, during 1st March and 3rd May. A written work (15-20 pages in 1.5 space) is due on 7th June.
