課程概述 |
This is a research course focused on the experimental and theoretical analysis of fluid flows involving immersed solid bodies. Such flows are encountered in a wide variety of contexts, and constitute the focus of much basic and applied research. Basic phenomena of interest include vortex-body interactions, vortex shedding, and immersed collisions. Applications include particle-laden environmental and industrial flows, fluid-structure interactions, and living organisms immersed in fluids. The course will let students set up simple experiments in the laboratory, make flow observations and measurements using visualization and image processing methods, and analyze both the kinematics and dynamics of the observed phenomena using basic theory and simple computations. |
