This course is specially designed for the foreign undergraduate and graduate students, or called “international students”, enrolled in National Taiwan University. The students can be in any major or department, such as in college of law, management, life science, engineering, and science, etc. The language used in this course is English. The maximum number of the students for this course is limited to 80. Local Taiwanese students, maximum 40 persons, can also take this course.
The instructors for this course include Dr. H.J. Sheen, Professor of Institute of Applied Mechanics, National Taiwan University and Director of Nano-Electro-Mechanical-System (NEMS) Research Center, and Prof. Robert Y. Lai, Chair Professor of Tatung University. During the semester we are going to introduce many new technology achievements in Taiwan industries and research institutes during the past few decades, especially after 1980.
During each class, one or two technological topics will be introduced and a 30-minutes video movie will be presented to all the students. Further, we are going to offer one or more site-visiting tours, on-campus or off-campus, e.g. Hsin-Chu Science Park, Earthquake Engineering Research Center, etc. The purpose of these site visits is to give the students a chance to see in person some new facilities and to learn more concerning new research areas.
This course will also be offered to the students in Tatung University and these students should come to NTU classroom every class hours.
