課程概述 |
This course explores health equity and social determinants of health. The first part reviews basic concepts of health equity, vital signs of world and Taiwan, and the contribution of medical care to population health. The second part examines health inequalities from different social dimensions, including economic development, social class, gender, neighborhood, work, social exclusion, life course, and globalization. The third part presents selected issues such as pathways linking social factors and health, global movement for health equity, and health inequalities in Taiwan. |
課程要求 |
This course meets for two hours once a week and is conducted mainly as a participatory seminar. Students are expected to read required readings and prepare a one-page note before the class. There will be a short photo voice project report, due December 19, 2023, on social inequalities of health.
Students will be graded according to their performance in one-page note (30%), class participation (40%), and the photo voice report (30%). |
