課程概述 |
“Introduction to Biodiversity and Conservation” is an English-taught course that focuses on fundamental knowledge for conservation biology by introducing (1) biodiversity, (2) threats to biodiversity, and (3) the approaches to reduce the threats and restore biodiversity. The lectures will cover principles and theories of ecology. Given the interdisciplinary framework of conservation biology, lectures will cover economics and politics, promoting the students to evaluate ecology findings from a different viewpoint. |

By the end of the course, students will be able to:
1. Define the fundamental principles and theories related to conservation biology
2. Summarize and discuss the history and ongoing topics in the field of conservation biology
3. Discuss the conflicts and the complexity in conservation biology from economic and political perspectives
4. Read, evaluate and communicate the peer-reviewed articles |

Attendance is expected. If you find that you must miss the class, please email me and the TA before lecture begins. You are allowed to have one free absence in this course.
